All Your Questions Have Answers Here

What is Support at Home, and who can use it?

Support at Home is the Australian Government's in-home aged care program. Your aged care assessment determines your approved services and funding classification.

Your support plan may include clinical care, personal care, allied health, domestic assistance, meals, transport, social support, respite, assistive technology or home modifications. You can only use funding for services approved in your support plan.

Your contribution depends on the service category and your financial circumstances. Clinical supports have no participant contribution. From 1 October 2026, approved personal care also has no participant contribution when you have available Support at Home funds.

Yes. Extra Support can help for a few days or weeks with personal care, mobility, meals, appointments and settling safely at home. We confirm what is appropriate before services begin.

The $65 per hour rate is for selected weekday support services when four or more continuous hours are genuinely needed. It is not the standard rate for every service; nursing, allied health, specialised care, weekends and public holidays are priced separately.

Support workers help with everyday activities such as personal care, mobility, meals and household tasks. Clinical assessment, wound care, medication management and clinical monitoring require a nurse or another appropriately qualified health professional.

We review essential services, safety, frequency and available alternatives. Short-term needs may be met through Extra Support; significant or ongoing changes may require a Support Plan Review or reassessment.

Where possible, yes. We prioritise continuity, especially for personal care and dementia support, but illness, leave and availability mean the same worker cannot be guaranteed for every visit.

Yes. Check your service agreement and notice requirements first. We can explain the transition, pricing and next steps before you decide.
